"Yourself as a Leader"

Logical Mind Map of 'Leadership':

Logical Mind Map of 'LUCT':

Essay:
Title - Yourself as a Leader

Once in our life, we always dream ourselves to be a leader in any affiliation that you are involved in. Thinking that you can do a better job than the existing leader. However, leadership is not always a positive role to a group of people. It can be translated as the evil role to a certain party. The most familiar example can be any communist countries like North Korea. Nothing is more beneficial than being a person who is rather high ranking in a society as there will be more advantages financially. Thus, this shows that how any leader ruling a group of people can be easily corrupted. Hence, if I, myself, become a leader, I would prepare a better system of society that prevents such activities.

To start with, there are factors that can improve leadership. It is how you communicate with others. Communication as a leader is simply to make your team or society to understand your goal clearly. So that everyone can be motivated to work hard towards any goal. To deal with people is probably one of the most important factor to be a leader. Speech is something that you can show people how much you are sincere to make a better place for everyone who is involved and also to motivate people to work towards the goal. To do such thing, you need a great deal of charisma and also clearly understand what people wish to have. Moreover, as a leader, you always have to open your ears to listen to other peoples view. As you are not working for yourself as a leader but for people. Hence accepting what people actually want is truly important. Have been studying in LUCT for about 4 years made me to realize that generally in Malaysia, there is hardly a leader who listens. However, most of the leaders would do what is beneficial for themselves and seems good for the public image.

Secondly, being determined and clearly understanding what future plan is very important being a leader. This is because, what drives any organization is the blue print for the future. Future plan can simply start with a huge goal for certain time frame. And it can be divided into many different targets to fulfil the main goal in a given time. As an organization, it is the most essential thing to always fix and improve and to try as hard to achieve what is perfect for the organization and for individual people. So, it is guaranteed not to be degrading. Moreover, with better preparation will help the campus to further as an internationally competitive. Therefore, it will be clear that we can improve LUCT on every aspect for the future students to have better education system and environment.

Thus, with a bit of help with the pointers, there are certain things that it is clear we can fix and improve. Firstly, the plaza. Plaza can be rather less utilized so that it is really a place that students can take a rest in between classes and even to discuss their group assignments. However, currently, it is filled with unnecessary entertainment of loud trance music and fashion shows that probably not many students want. Thus, plaza can definitely transform into a more comfortable environment.

Secondly, something that LUCT can definitely improve on is a service. As an international university, i believe that Limkokwing should provide an service that can be internationally recognized too. Print shop is always crowded with lack of staffs, same goes with the convenient shop and also the bursary, registration and visa department. All of those that i have mentioned share a common thing, which is the fact that there are rather a lot of empty counters while most of the time, there are only two people working at each department. As a student from South Korea, i have been exposed to a great service industry, for example, South Korea has the fastest immigration department in their airport. Thus, it is important for LUCT to show the example of the standard that they want from the student. For third, cyberjaya by itself does not really have a fancy transportation. Thus, it is quite a task for students who live outside of Cyberjaya or Putrajaya to reach LUCT. This can be simply solved by having a bus that goes to KL Central and students can pay for the bus ticket so it will be easier to maintain the service. For fourth, Food is really more than a ‘thing’ that you eat to survive. But for certain people, it is a stress relief and their therapy for the heavy work load. However, LUCT does not provide decent food at all, compare to the money that we pay. This is probably one of the worst thing that a student can learn by studying in a college: seeing people who does not work hard enough comparing to the amount of money that they get paid for. From the environment of the campus, students have to learn that they cannot slack to earn money but to work hard and be worth of money that they get paid. Moreover, food that is not prepared with a quality ingredients or hygienic environment can cause students with a health problem. Therefore, it is always important to hire a hardworking and passionate person and also to provide a healthy food.

Being a Leader always remains as something that is extreme, either overrated or underrated. It is because, probably as a human we cannot please everyone. However, it is more important for the leader to be always committed to the goals and his job. He should never take the people for granted and think as if he rules the society or a group of people but always remind himself that he works for the individuals. A true leader is a representation of everyone. At the same time, it is essential for the students to form an union to create and stand their rights as a group without an union is a body without a soul. So that individuals can always show the leader that they can stand up for things they deserve. If all of us are willing to, we can make this in a way better place that we would be in love and proud of.

The picture shows two signboards with the word ‘problem’, which the antonym of ‘solution’. The signboards pointing to different direction indicate that if there is a problem, there is also a way to the solution. As a leader, our job is to find out the problem. Identify reasons why it is exists and provide the best solutions for it as many as we could. When facing a problem, a leader must come up with several solutions and decide on one that benefits the majority.

The picture shows people handing up papers in the air. Here it means that the people are going to propose a suggestion. A leader must use his executive power wisely, take care of those in his charge, and accepts all opinions and ideas from them. The leader would then compile these suggestions together to create an even better solution. Taking notice and accepting those ideas would greatly boost morale of those under the leader as it makes them feel important or useful.

The picture shows a man jumping from a cliff to another, shows how strong his determination is while taking such a huge step forward to another destination. A leader should have such attitude, where he should make an example towards other. A leader should take the first step and take action of a situation. There are always situations where a leader does not know of the outcome, it is the leader’s courage and determination that makes him stand out from the rest.

I would describe myself as a toy windmill. The colourfulness of the toy windmill gives a sense of happiness. It spins as wind blows through the windmill, reminds me of a phrase called “following the wind”. To me, it implies one who lives life by following his feeling, but not being forced to suit or fit himself to the circumstances. I think the toy windmill represents me well as I love to follow my heart in my life. I will merely take things as they come. I believe I will be happier when I allow myself to simply be me.
